“Sophisticated New York” Black & White: Rudy Giuliani Officiates Wedding of Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay to WPIX News Anchor Jodi Applegate at the Plaza Hotel, NYC.

By | Weddings | 4 Comments

There was a special Valentine’s week event at The Plaza Hotel on Saturday, February 12, where Tantawan Bloom did a beautiful wedding: Yankee’s broadcaster Michael Kay tied the knot with WPIX news anchor Jodi Applegate. There was an impressive group of guests, among them Paul O’Neill, David Cone, Tino Martinez, Darryl Strawberry, Joe Girardi, Hal Steinbrenner, Al Leiter, John Flaherty, WPIX’s Kaity Tong, NBC’s Brian Williams, and actor Danny Aiello (Michael Kay’s uncle). Music was provided by Star Talent, and at one point classical guitarist Bernie Williams jammed with the wedding band. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Rudy Giuliani. Jodi Applegate’s bouquet was a dramatic and elegant creation of Stephanotis together with Phalaenopsis and Dendrobium Orchids, complementing a white dress of empire lace designed by Suzanne Neville from the Wedding Atelier bridal boutique.

The escort card table featured a fountain of white Phalaenopsis Orchids in The Plaza’s Palm Court. And the lavish ceremony itself took place in the Terrace Room, where we produced an atmosphere of soft wintery beauty. White panels of elegant chiffon and Phalaenopsis Orchids and glowing ivory candles framed the altar, the focal point of the day’s celebration.

The reception in the ballroom took place in an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication, a glamorous supper club, appropriate for the famed Plaza Hotel. White Hydrangeas, Roses and Phalaenopsis Orchids enchanted the guests and framed the celebrations that followed the earlier formal ceremony.

Special thanks to The Plaza’s Steve Rice and his team as well as catering by Great Performances, photographer David Hechler of Hechler Photography, and the lighting & sound team from Bentley Meeker.

Traditional Meets Modern: Jacqueline and Yavar at the Mandarin Oriental NY

By | Weddings | No Comments

I first shared Jacqueline and Yavar’s wedding back in June; the decor for their April 2010 nuptials consisted of a juxtaposition of traditional florals situated within the modern setting of the Mandarin Oriental NY.

Now thanks to the talented team at Christian Oth Studio, I am able to share with you some gorgeous, professional images of their day!

Please enjoy, all photos © Christian Oth Studio

By | Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Uncategorized | No Comments

Last night, Tantawan Bloom was honored to bring to life this chic and sophisticated Bat Mitzvah at the Mandarin Oriental NY. Rinat & Joe were so lovely and it really made my job all that more rewarding to create this party for them and their sweet daughter Laura.

This is one of my most favorite events to date. Below photos from my own point and shoot.

A Stylish, Downtown Affair: Marcie & Corey at Tribeca Rooftop

By | Weddings | No Comments

Marcie & Corey were married this past July at Tribeca Rooftop here in NYC. Marcie had such a stylish-eye for coordination; her color palette was unique and her bridesmaids dresses were one of my favorites all season. I was also able to work closely with both the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom on this wedding, both of whom were so open and loving – I do always have a soft-spot for Moms. 😉

Best collaboration overall though must to go to the privilege of once again being able to work with Danny Weiss, who’s photos of the day I invite you to enjoy below.

Chic & Clean in White & Green: Ronit and Eric at the Mandarin Oriental NY

By | Weddings | One Comment

When Ronit declared that the recipe for her October nuptials at the Mandarin Oriental NY would call for a marriage of both my favorite style of design AND color palette, I could not wait to start designing this event. Low, tight arrangements set in clear, square glass containers along with plenty of white Phalaenopsis Orchids and candlelight; it is my pleasure to share with you these photos, taken by sister of the groom Dana Siles, of this magnificent client-designer-match made in heaven.

A Traditional Wedding in a Modern NYC Venue Mandarin Oriental Hotel NY

By | Weddings | No Comments

Jacqueline and Yavar were married this past April at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC. Jacqueline, who is of Chinese decent, was looking for a traditional look for this modern venue and was not apposed to the use of white for her wedding décor. We chose a floral palette of white, blush, ivory and green and set centerpieces in gorgeous cut-glass vases to create this modern/traditional juxtaposition. Please enjoy the below photos from our own point-and-shoot.

A grand welcome via our Escort Card table design.

I hope to feature more from this wedding again soon – you must see how beautiful the Bride was with her handsome Groom! 😉
