Sleek Floral Design at Bar Mitzvah at the Intrepid Museum

By | Bar/Bat Mitzvahs | 4 Comments

This past weekend May 16th, Tantawan Bloom designed a very sleek floral decor for Jordan’s Bar Mitzvah at the Intrepid Museum NYC. The space was huge and there were so many air planes in that beautiful venue. Special thanks to
Gustavo Campos the photographer who did such an amazing job. Some photos which are not good quality were taken by myself (of course I’m a florist not a photographer.)
Megan Wall, you were terrific to work with and was very helpful at the museum. Parties by PJ is always pleasure to work with. Frost did very good job with the lighting.

Bat Mitzvah Cherry Blossom Spring in Philadelphia

By | Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Uncategorized | One Comment

Hi all, are you tired of the cold winter weather? It is time to think spring. Tantawan Bloom did the event at the Green Valley Country Club, Philadelphia last week and brought spring to Philly.

For the hallway we suspended garlands of pink orchids from the ceiling to make the guests feel cheerful and look forward to see what’s next in cocktail room.

We did the cocktail room in white. The white Cherry flowering branch arrangement was the big focal point.

In the dining room we created a centerpiece on a 72” round table of tall Cherry Blossoms surrounded at the base by a pink floral arrangement of Roses, Ranunculus, Anemonies, Stocks, Hydrangeas and Peonies.
It is always refreshing to see spring flowers. And I especially enjoy Cherry Blossoms, they are such beautiful and joyful flowers especially after this cold long winter we have had.

Tantawan Bloom at the New York Magazine Weddings Show.

By | Events & News, Weddings | 2 Comments

Last week on April 1st Tantawan Bloom took part in the New York Weddings magazine show at the Metropolitan Pavilion on West 18th Street in Manhattan.
Spring is a wonderful time for Lilacs, so I decided to feature them in a centerpiece that also included white Phalaenopsis Orchids which is always beautiful and elegant, white and blush pink Ranunculus, white and very pale pink Peonies, blush spray Roses, Sweet Peas and white Freesias. This centerpiece was inspired by waterfalls, so I also wanted to use water and candles. We had only limited space on the table so we made the centerpiece tall, with white Phalaenopsis orchids cascading down like a waterfall onto a lucite pool of floating candles and orchid buds.
Gorgeous linens, glassware, flatware and chairs were all provided by
Classic Party Rentals. (Thank you to Julia Dash!)

For the napkin rings we created a garland of rose petals (Thai Style) for a unique, stunning and elegant look.
I also made seven different bridal bouquets: four in different shades of pink (Peonies and Sweet Peas), one of white Lilacs, one with purple Lilacs and Anemones, and one art-deco inspired, white and black flowers surrounded by plumes of white feathers.
Thank you to all the brides and others who stopped by the table.
Thank you to New York Weddings Magazine.
Thank you to Lindsey of Lindseybelle Photography. for the beautiful photographs.

Disco Dream on Bat Mitzvah Night

By | Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Uncategorized | 2 Comments

It’s hard not to get caught up in the negativity surrounding this economic slowdown, but we can all do with a party to help us forget about it for a day, an evening, or just a few minutes. It was the coldest night in January when we did an event at the Pine Hollow Country Club on Long Island, New York. The client wanted the theme to be “disco” – not traditional 70’s and 80’s disco, but a version with a modern/future look. So this is what I came up with.

The cocktail décor was all in red. In the main dining room I went for a very elegant modern look with beautiful floral centerpieces in green and white. The restroom was filled with white flowers and candles for a warm and relaxing atmosphere.

There were three centerpiece styles, with one of them inspired by an event we did last September.

The first one was an upside down calla lily sculptural design with the addition of small pieces of mirror wrapped around the pole to suggest a disco ball. The table top was an arrangement of white and green flowers.
The second design was a disco ball lamp on a mirrored column, accented at the base with a modern floral arrangement of tulips, roses, calla lilies, anemones and narines, again in white and green .

The third was my favorite of the event, and took us a long time to produce. I called this centerpiece “Dream”. We used open cut calla lilies curled around the top of the centerpiece, with the addition of green cymbidium orchids.
Globe lanterns filled with candles swirling above the table made for a beautiful atmosphere when the lights were dimmed. On the table top was a very simple design of wheat grass accented with the disco balls.

I hope you enjoy it as much as the client did. I think it took everyone’s mind off the economy for a few magic hours.

Simple Yet Sophisticated Flower Design for Bar Mitzvah Party

By | Bar/Bat Mitzvahs | 3 Comments

The client told me, “We want the party to be relaxing and fun, the flowers are very simple and modern. We’d like a strong look in green and white. We also love candles. And we’d love to give away flowers to all the guests when they leave the party”

After I thought about it, I came up with a simple design that was also sophisticated.
When the guests entered, they found their escort cards on a wall of white and green cymbidiums orchids accented on top with phalaenopsis orchids.

In the cocktail area I used amaryllis in rectangular clear glass.

There were two basic centerpiece designs. In one I used 4 tall elegant vases filled with the bouquets of the phalaenopsis and dendrobium orchids, which the guests can carry home as bouquets when the party is over. Floating candles added to the elegance of the table design. The other centerpiece evolved from a design the client had seen in my portfolio. This consisted of a tall glass cylinder filled with submerged white tulips and topped with an arrangement of elephant ear leaves. Surrounding the cylinder was a rectangular arrangement using green mums, accented by floating candles.
